Editorial Policy

How TrustMyPolicy researches, writes, reviews, and updates every piece of content.

TrustMyPolicy exists to provide independent, accurate, and practical insurance guidance. This page explains exactly how our content is created, who is responsible for it, how we handle commercial relationships, and how we maintain accuracy over time.

This policy applies to every article, guide, comparison, and FAQ published on TrustMyPolicy.com.

1. Independence

TrustMyPolicy is an independent platform. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or editorially influenced by any insurance company, broker, or financial product provider.

No insurer, comparison platform, or financial organisation can pay us to:

  • Feature their products in a guide
  • Rank their products more favourably than the evidence supports
  • Remove or amend negative mentions of their products
  • Publish content that serves their commercial interests over our readers’ interests

Where commercial relationships exist (see Section 5 on Affiliate Links), they are clearly disclosed and do not influence editorial decisions.

2. Research Standards

Every article published on TrustMyPolicy is researched against authoritative primary sources. We do not rely on secondary blogs, press releases, or insurer-provided marketing material as our primary research basis.

Our primary sources include:

Market Primary Sources Used
United Kingdom FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) — fca.org.uk  |  Money Helper — moneyhelper.org.uk  |  GOV.UK — gov.uk  |  Association of British Insurers (ABI) — abi.org.uk
United States CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) — cms.gov  |  Healthcare.gov  |  NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) — naic.org  |  IRS — irs.gov (for tax-related insurance topics)

3. Content Creation Process

Every article published on TrustMyPolicy follows this process:

Step 1 Topic is identified based on genuine reader demand — search data and reader questions, not commercial interest.
Step 2 Research is conducted against primary regulatory sources listed above.
Step 3 Draft is written with a clear structure: what the reader needs to know, practical guidance, and real-world examples where helpful.
Step 4 Content is reviewed by Jagadeesh Gutha before publication — checking for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with our editorial standards.
Step 5 Article is published with a publication date and ‘last reviewed’ date clearly visible.
Step 6 Article is scheduled for review — at minimum annually, or sooner if regulatory changes affect the topic.

4. Accuracy and Corrections

Insurance rules, prices, and products change frequently. We are committed to keeping our content accurate and up to date.

Our accuracy commitments:

✔  Every article displays a ‘last reviewed’ date — this is the date it was most recently verified against current regulatory guidance

✔  Articles covering products or prices are reviewed at least annually

✔  When FCA or CMS guidance changes, affected articles are prioritised for immediate review

✔  Reader-reported errors are investigated and corrected within 5 business days

If you find an error, outdated information, or broken link on TrustMyPolicy — please contact us via trustmypolicy.com/contact. We treat every correction request seriously and will respond promptly.

5. Affiliate Links and Commercial Relationships

⚠  Transparency Notice: Some links on TrustMyPolicy are affiliate links. This means we may receive a small commission if you click through and complete a purchase or quote request — at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate relationships NEVER influence: which products we recommend, how we rank insurers or comparison tools, or any editorial content on this site.

Where affiliate links are present in an article, this is disclosed clearly at the top of that article. We only link to comparison platforms and tools that we believe offer genuine value to readers.

We do not accept:

  • Sponsored content disguised as editorial content
  • Payment to rank a product favourably
  • Advertiser influence over comparison tables or recommendations

6. Guest Contributions

TrustMyPolicy accepts a limited number of guest contributions from qualified writers with demonstrated expertise in insurance or personal finance. All guest content is subject to the same editorial standards as our own content.

Guest contributors must:

✔  Provide verifiable credentials or professional experience

✔  Submit original, unpublished content

✔  Accept editorial review and revision

✔  Disclose any conflicts of interest

Guest content is clearly attributed. TrustMyPolicy retains editorial control over all published content, including guest contributions. We do not publish paid guest posts that do not meet our editorial standards.

7. Complaints and Feedback

We welcome feedback on our content, editorial decisions, and processes. If you believe we have published inaccurate, misleading, or unfair content, please contact us:

  • Via the Contact page at trustmypolicy.com/contact
  • We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days
  • We will investigate and respond with our findings within 5 business days
  • If a correction is warranted, we will publish it promptly and note the update at the bottom of the affected article

8. Policy Updates

This Editorial Policy is reviewed annually and updated whenever our practices change. The date below reflects when this version was last updated.
